Niana, January, 1324, Morning I will be traveling with Mansa Musa on the Hajj. The number of people on the is shocking, 60,000 people! There are 12,000 slaves too and 500 of them are carrying gold. Also 1,000 camels and about 80-100 are carrying gold. The journey is going to be about 4,000 miles! I'm not sure if I'm gonna make it? As I'm getting ready to go on the journey notice something, the camels are pooping this yellowish greenish poo. It smells awful and makes me wanna throw up. Also I hear lots of talking about the dangers on the hajj. It makes me nervous. Now I see Mansa Musa in his golden, astounding chariot.

The caravan that I'm in is ahead of me and behind me a few days. We found an Oasis! With lots of water! Allah has blessed us, thank you Allah. Are next leg that we will go to is Taghaza. Well there's no water on the way to Taghaza through the dessert and our water supply is scolding. But we're in luck, it's the begging of rainy season. When we arrive in Taghaza the trade is very impressive. Loads of goods are being traded. Blacks from the Sudan from the south meet with the Berbers from Northern Africa. They come to exchange goods. I go sit in a shady date palm. I want to get my mind of the trip and just relax for a

Since our caravan is exahausted we decide to set up camp for the night in Taghaza. All of a sudden we hear a grumbling noise ? Is it a earthquake? Is it a stampeed? Every one is murmoring about the grumbling noise. So we decide to leave as quickly as we can. When it's morning and we get ready to travel, people are asking about the route taken North. Isn't there anothr way to get across? I guess not. When we take the route thro ugh the Sahra we saw a city literaly made out of salt. We feel welcomed and we're facinated by these salt buildings. I guess the hajj took is through a intresting path.

Our caravan has traveled over 1,500 miles. As I journey through the hajj hear pilgrims discussing what th Qur'an teaches the practices and duties of Muslims. Since we stop to take a short brake I sit down and think about the Qur'an abd the experiecne I have been through on the hajj. I remeber a verse that I learned long time ago "Those that give alms by night and by day, in private and in public, shall be rewarded by their Lord. They shall have nothing to fear or to regret." When we arrived in Cairo this morning the city was crazy and very excited. Rumors spread that Mansa Musa will not meet the local sultan. Also dozen amounts of gold are being given to the people of Cairo. As I get my journal out of my pack, feel very welcomed in the city of Cairo. I do wonder how Cairo got all this gold and they're giving some to me?

Niani, October, 1375, Evening
Its been over 50 years since we left Niani and as travel with Mansa Musa famous and historic hajj. I gather some things for my grandson since I'm 63. Also I give him my journal I kept over 50 years. I write one last finale event in my journal. Every thing on the hajj turned the way I hoped it to be. I survived and I'm reunited with my family. It was deffinetly worth the money. My lasting significance on Mansa Musa's journey was that I meet the Mansa Musa and got to be rewarded. Those were my last words for my journal.
